Matthew Frederick Beyer, 35, Of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Matthew Frederick Beyer, 35, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, Nov. 27.

Born Sept. 19, 1981, in Albany, he was the son of Thomas Beyer and Jeanne Gaffney Beyer.

He graduated from St. Thomas More High School in Oakdale, Conn. and attended San Jose City College in San Jose, Calif. He worked as a butcher at Adam's Fairacre Farms in Newburgh. He was an outstanding cook, an avid sports fan who followed football (New York Giants) and baseball (Oakland A's), and he loved animals, especially Millie The Cat. Family was very important to him and he was an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephew.

He is survived by his father, Thomas Beyer; stepmother, Helen Qi; mother, Jeanne Beyer; stepfather, Jim Wolters; sister, Jennifer Beyer Miller and husband Aaron; three nieces, Madeline, Melinda and Abigail Miller; nephew, Mason Miller; step-grandmother, Jean Wolters; many aunts and uncles, Mary and David Lanthier, Robert and Geoia Beyer, James and Gwen Beyer, John and Donna Beyer, Richard and Renee Beyer, Norman and Jane Gaffney, Diane Gaffney, Robert Gaffney, William and Donna Gaffney, Karen Beyer, Susan Wolters; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, William and Edith Beyer; and maternal grandparents, Norman and Theresa Gaffney.

Calling hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Regina Coeli Church, Route 9, Hyde Park. Burial will follow at Red Church Cemetery in Tivoli.
